The first Chapter of Symbiosis is posted here. Be aware that the format is a little wonky and there are no indentations.

Thanks, Maprilynne! Coolness.
I just finished it. It's great. If the rest of the book is as well-written, I wouldn't be surprised at all if you get it published. I want to read more but I'll probably have to wait and buy it. :-)
I have to say, you left me wanting to know more which is the best thing a writer can do!
Random question since you've done a ton of agent research... any idea how long it takes Kristin Nelson to turn around a partial? I thought I remembered it being two weeks...
Love the blog!
Yes, she tries to get them done in two weeks. But you have to count correctly. Two weeks not from when you sent it, but from when it arrived in Denver and was logged in. Expect 2-3 days for the USPS to get it there then give Sara two days to log it in. Then start counting two weeks and give her three days lee-way before you start stressing. I have found her to be very prompt. She does warm in her request e-mail that it could take up to two months to recieve a response to a partial, but her goal is two weeks.
Hope that helps!
Maprilynne
Thanks - I knew you'd have the answer!! The partial got there Monday so I'll put my own little "don't think about it until this date" deadline at around Nov 17. Then I'll start the obsession with email :)
Now I'm just obsessed with checking her blog every morning to see if for some reason I crossed her and my partial or cover letter ends up being written about as a "don't do this..."

that was a great beginning. I hope you get it published, because I definitely want to read more.
(and Kristin is very prompt in her turnaround. I heard back from her after sending in a partial in a little over 2 weeks)
Good Luck!
