Wow. It has been the busiest, most amazing week. (I'm going to call the last seven days a week rather than a calendar week because . . . well, it's my blog and I want to!:D) It started out last Wednesday by finding out Wings had hit number one on the NYT Bestseller's week. Well, you just can't start out a week any better than that! We have been rather frantically packing for the last week anyway, and Thursday we packed all morning. All. Morning. Then Kenny and I decided to reward ourselves by going to a movie with a friend. Halfway through the movie, my BIL texted me to let me know that The-Moving-Company-Which-Shall-Not-Be-Named had called to tell us that out truck (which was the only one that size or bigger in the entire state, apparently) was in Cedar City (three hours away) and, no, there was nothing they could (or would) do about it. Bear in mind this was literally less than 18 hours before we were scheduled to pick up said truck. So we calmly sat back and enjoyed the rest of the movie, then it was crisis-fixing time! Three hours, a new moving company, about $350 extra, and nine extra feet of truck later, we managed to secure another truck. Phew!
So Friday morning we got up early and cleaned out our sheds, took a huge van-full of stuff to the dump, I mowed the lawn, did a bunch of cleaning, and then . . . took off to spend the day at CONduit, a sci-fi/fantasy convention in Salt Lake City. So yes, I did cruelly leave Kenny and some family and friends to load the van. By the time I got home that night, they were done!
The next morning, my husband and three babies left me.
Well, not like that. But they moved down to Phoenix and I have obligations up here till the first week of June. *sniff* I miss them.
But I still have a fun week to look forward to. I am getting my highlights redone tomorrow (I love my highlights!) and on Thursday I am going to New York!! My whole publishing team (the people behind the magic!!) is getting together with me Thursday night to celebrate Wings being in the top spot and then on Friday I am taping an interview for book two, signing fifty books for a Costco Giveaway, attending a luncheon for the Indie Next list, and going to a swanky party that night. Whew! It will be fun! I am also meeting up with a bunch of friends at multiple locations and going to see WICKED at the Gershwin on Saturday! Can I just tell you how much I have been looking forward to this trip!?!?!? So hopefully that will help my loneliness.:)
I'm also gearing up for the Supernatural Summer Tour that is happening next week. (See that cool little widget over there in my sidebar?!?) We (the authors) will be filming the tour stops with little flip cameras so there should be some fun footage when we all get back in case you can't make it to one of the stops.
So yeah! Look for fun updates and in case you aren't following me on Twitter, that is where I do the bulk of my updates when I am traveling! I also have discovered the Facebook App that Kenny put on my phone WEEKS ago and tend to take and upload a bunch of pics that way! So check out my Facebook page too!
Also, if you are going to be at BEA, look for me!! (And I'll look for you.) I'll be the one with the WINGS button on my shirt.;)
Ciao!

Sounds like so much fun! How sad though that you're moving to Phoenix. I was really excited we at least lived in the same state :-)
I saw on your calender on the Wings website that you'll be at the Orem library in June. Well, I'll miss you there too, I'll be in Orlando, and I couldn't make it to conduit. So, I do hope I'll get a signed copy of Wings before you become arch-famous and then I won't be able to get one anymore.
I just bought and read your book. I loved it. I am trying to decide which of my three daughters it is age appropriate for. It was sweet and a lot of fun. You deserve the awesome top ranking! Enjoy!
Its ridiculous that I was JUST at Borders looking for a new book to read and didn't think to look for yours. :( I'll be sure to buy it on my next trip. Sorry the move was so stressful.
I'm halfway through your book and enjoying it! Isn't it crazy how long it takes to write a book...and so sad how fast it goes by reading it?!?!?
Sounds like a great week, even if you're away from your family and wicked is awesome.
Sounds like such a fun time, going to NYC!
The moving part sounds like a headache, but you have a great attitude about it :)
Hi April
I am 14 and I live in the UK and I love Wings!
I like Tamani. He is my favourite. Is Tamani based on a real person? He reminds me OF me!
I go to an art club at my school. We can draw whatever we like and when I go back I'm going to do (have a go at, anyway) a drawing Laurel, David and Tamani.
I am a writer too. Shhh, don't tell this to anyone, but - I thought I loved Twilight. But maybe I love Wings more. I adore faeries.
Lots Of Love

PS - Wings has made me want to start gardening again! And I hope you can reply to me because that'd be ace! But I know us authors can be busy at times, so no pressure. :) And good luck with moving.
a bestselling author has to mow the lawn! what? no fair!
So I read Wings, and in between unpacking from Europe and morning sickness, managed to finish it in two days. I can see why it is number one. It is beautiful, and I don't like that I have to wait a year for number two. Have a great trip, and good luck with the move. I like that you mow your lawn. I make my husband do it.
Hey! I live in the greater Phoenix area! Cool!
Have fun in New York.
Oops, I'm not dp...I'm Sari. dp's my husband!
New Fan here--duh! Thank you so much for writing Wings and signing my book at the Kings English May 15th. Unfortunately I couldn't be there (silly family vacations that get in the way of my fun), but I heard it was a great time.
I can't believe I found a new favorite author, who is local to my area nonetheless, only to learn that you are moving to Arizona. Stephenie has all the luck!
Looking forward to watching you rocket into author stardom, and hopefully appear back in town on tour in the near future.
PS why can't writers write more? and Publishers publish faster? I think it's so unfair for something I read in one day with complete enjoyment takes years of hardwork on your part plus one for the publisher to send it to press.
Anxiously awaiting for Laurel to experience another blooming fall season :)

So excited and happy for you April! It's so inspiring to see an everyman (okay, WOman) succeed. It was great to meet you at Mrs. Nelson's bookstore in California, thanks for the advice and I'll keep wearing the yellow shirt! :) My daughter (she's 15 1/2) and I LOVED Wings. Keep up the awesome work and have fun. 'Wicked' is incredible!!
Hello everyone! Since there hasn't been a lot of activity on the blog lately, I just thought I'd leave a quick note for y'all (I'm Aprilynne's husband)--Aprilynne is swamped with tour stuff. She appreciates your kind words and support and will be back in the blogosphere as soon as she can!
I just don't want anyone to think they're being ignored. d^_^b For what it's worth, I barely survived the first week being home alone with our children, and I still have a week to go! So we're all feeling her absence--except those fortunate enough to be where she's touring. d^_~b
I'm in Scotland, and saw your book in a book store today...I was "drawn" to it...I picked it up, sat down and began reading....8 chapters later I was HOOKED and freaking out that I didn't have my wallet!!! I've called all my sisters in the States already and told them all about this book and how they MUST read it! I'm headed out to buy it ASAP!!
I'm LDS too!
Is there going to be a sequal?
I just finished Wings and it was awesome :) Im LDS and I think that its so great to have people like you and Stephanie in our church :) I love the story and cant wait to read more!!!
I hope to hear from You soon! :)
