Happy Valentine's Day!

. . . a little early.:D

It's that time of year!! The time when love is heavy in the air?? No. The time when romance blossoms like flowers? Nope.

The time of year when Aprilynne gives away an ARC??

Ding, ding, ding!!!!:D

It's ARC time!!!

The Wings series is, at its heart, a love story, so I like giving an ARC away around Valentine's Day because . . . well, because I'm corny.:)

So one ARC of Spells is up for grabs!! Anyone is eligible, and all you have to do to enter is comment with your fantasy fiction pairing! Who do you think would make the very best couple from fiction (YA or not)? Who are those characters who go so perfectly together despite being created by totally different authors and living in completely separate universes?

For example: I think Hermione Granger and Edward Cullen, were totally MTB. After all, only a 110 year old vampire could keep up with her extensive knowledge, Hermione could use the love and attention that Edward would lavish on her, and Edward would totally appreciate Hermione's intelligence and subtle beauty.

Wings characters are up for grabs, but using them won't give you an edge.;)

Enter up until 12:00 EST on Saturday, February 13th, and I will announce the winner Valentine's Day.:D This blog posts on Blogger, LiveJournal, and Facebook--you can leave your comment any of these three places.

And if you don't win this one, you will have two more chances! Wingsfansite.com and Late Bloomer Online are both doing giveaways too! The Wings Fans' is already up and running and Late Bloomers are gearing up for theirs. So check out both these site for their contests and, if you feel like it, join or become a follower!

Good Luck!! I wish I had ARCs for all of you!!!

Ciao!

Ha! What a fun contest! This is really hard though, because I feel most characters belong with the ones they were written with!

Hmm... you know, actually I need to think about this for a while. I'll be back! :)

Wow, what an awesome idea for a contest! Thanks!

I would love to see Simon from The Mortal Instruments series get together with Max from Maximum Ride. I love both of their crushes in their own series, but they'd be so great together!

Personally I think that Susan Pevensie and Emmmet Cullen would make a really good couple because they are different but i think they would balance each other out very nicely.:D

How about Isi, from The Goose Girl, and Mr. Knightly, from Emma? Isi is young and somewhat naive but still strong with a good heart, like Emma. Mr. Knightly is a good friend, wise, and protective, like Geric. Might be a great match!

Oooh...

Janco from the Poison Study books with Katsa from Graceling. I would love to see the two of them fight and make up ;)

This is a great idea. :-D

Hatori Sohma (Fruits Basket)
and Tati (Wildwood Dancing)

They would be perfect for each other. ;)

Funny you should say Hermione & Edward you should check out this fan fiction video someone made called Lost In Twilight, it will make more sense if you have seen Lost In Auten.

I love Zane from Pretties by Scott Westerfeld and think he deserved someone better like Katniss from Hunger Games she is totally bubbly making.

Ooh, this is fun to ponder! I think Scout from To Kill A Mockingbird and Gavroche from Les Mis would get along smashingly--they're both scrappy, adventurous, and precocious.

Anonymous said...

I really would like to see Ever from EVERMORE and Luke from Ally Carter's GALLAGHER GIRL SERIES together. I think it would be really cute, with Luke's adventurous side and Ever's smart-that's-really-refreshing side merge together. It's a bit unheard of, but I think it could work out really nicely.

Christine said...

OK I think I have got it! How about Prince Char from, Ella Enchanted and Zeeta from, the Indigo Notebook!
Zeeta would keep Char laughing and in love from her being caring and full of surprise adventures, while Char would make sure nothing hurt her and lover her for simply being Zeeta!
..... I can just picture them being amazing friends that all of a sudden fall in love!

I think Katniss from The Hunger Games should get with Tamani from Wings. They both like the outdoors and both, as far as I'm concern, likes the color green...if that means anything. They just seem perfect together.

Yvaine from Stardust and Westly from The Princess Bride!

A pair of smart alecs who kick butt. They'd get along swimmingly, I think.

Trini said...

Man it's so hard to chose! I say Katniss (Hunger Games) with Sam (Shiver). I love Katniss. She is such a strong character who has been through so much and she need someone who can adore, cherish and worship her like Sam can.*sigh*

Awesome contest!! Well, here's who I'd love to see together: Mr. Darcy and Anne Boleyn--not the real historical person, but the character Philippa Gregory made for The Other Boleyn Girl.

They're both supreme smartasses! But they're also wildly passionate at the same time, and with any luck, Darcy's innate goodness (under all that pride of his) would rub off on the cold-hearted Anne. Maybe some of her outgoing vivacity would rub off on HIM.

Their relationship would never get boring, and they'd love and respect each other too much to let the relationship fail like Anne's with King Henry.

Also, nobody's head would get lopped off :)

Jonas from “The Giver” by Lois Lowry and Bianca from “Evernight,” by Claudia Gray (but Jonas would be Bianca’s age) would make a good couple. Neither of these protagonists fit in with their communities. They both had to overcome internal struggles as to whether or not their family/society were in the wrong and if they should side with them. Jonas questioned his community as he began to see things as they truly are and were during his training with the Giver. Bianca’s eyes were opened by Luke. They both realize that they are living a lie and are being “forced” into lifestyles that they don’t entirely approve of by the people around them.
I admire the strength in both of these characters and think that they could have a strong bond based on that alone. They were both looking for love and I think they would be happy together. It isn’t easy to turn your back on your parents or the way of life you have known since birth, yet their strong convictions of what’s right lead them to take the path less traveled. Plus… if Jonas allowed Bianca to feed off of him they could go back to the village as vampires and take over ha ha…just kidding.

I think Mary Poppins and Willy Wonka would go great together because they'd never run out of things to talk about. ;)

Hmmm...I think Jake from Twilight needs to get together with someone better than Bella's baby.

How about Izzy from The Mortal Instruments? She's really cool and badass, but she has a lot of crap in her life. She needs someone who can keep up with her demon slaying awesomeness and still make her laugh at the end of the day. I say Jake would be perfect for her. :)

Hmm....this is a really interesting idea for a contest! I think....One sec while I skim my bookshelves for good books with good characters.....
I've got it.....I'd like to see Meggie (from Inkheart) and Septimus (from Septimus Heap) together. They both have had experiences with magic (or Magyk, as the case may be....), Meggie through the land that lies within the pages of Inkheart, and Septimus through his Apprenticeship to the ExtraOrdinary Wizard. They are both adventurous, and have had their fair share of rough times (Septimus in his days as Boy 412 in the Young Army and Meggie in her struggles against Capricorn and his cronies). They would be a fun pair to read about.
Can't wait for Spells to come out, by the way! Wings was such a good book.....

Unknown said...

Patch from Hush, Hush and Kat from Graceling. She could handle him and wouldn't put up with his crap. Plus, if he ever wanted to kill her, she'd kick his butt.

Red Boot Pearl said...

Katniss from 'Hunger Games' and Thomas from 'The Maze Runner'. Katniss needs Thomas' brain power to over throw the Capital, and Thomas could have totally used Katniss in the maze against the Grievers. They would make quite the pair. And then Katniss wouldn't have to choose between Peeta and Gale...

YAY STAR TREK said...

Oh, I know! How about Ariel from Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev and Max from the Maximum Ride series? They are both mythical creatures ;) I can picture Max showing Ariel who really wears the pants in that relationship...

Jacob and Izzy!

Ron from harry potter and Bliss from blue bloods, because they both have a fun side and are laid back

Woah, this contest is intense. I can already predict that I will spend days making up pairs like these. This could be very entertaining.

I would pair Edward Cullen with Melissa from the Midnighters books. They're both telepaths, so they could share that burden and understand each other on that level. They could have great mental convos. Plus, neither seems to be one for getting touched, so that could work out well too.

Monster of Books said...

I would like to see Valek from Poison study be paired up with Cat (Catherine) Royal from Cat Royal series by Julia Golding.

Those two would always be fighting and trying to outwit themselves. I also think the imagine I have of each character, put together, would make a great kissing scene. I can see it now.

Hmmm. I have a few pairings, but the one at the top of my list would have to be Elphalba (Wicked) and Anakin Skywalker. I think that as a couple, they would have stopped the other from going to the "Dark/Wicked Side". ;)

I'm gonna say Stark from the House of Night by P.C. Cast with Quincie from Tantalize by Cynthia Leitich Smith.

Leah Clearwater and Jacob Black from the Twilight Series.
It was hinted so much throughout Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, and they are both hot heads, but they also seem to have a soft spot. Both of them have been through things with their wannabe lovers and I think that they could be able to coup with one another's...issues, per se, without getting jealous or threatened. They make great friends but I think if they were actually together, their relationship would be so much stronger!

Oh gosh. Chelsea and Jacob Black... They're celeb couple name would be "Chelcob" or "Ja-sea."

They both know what it's like to pine for someone whose sights are set on a slightly sparklier (or more winged) person. They've both got a good sense of humor, with Jacob being more sarcastic and Chelsea being more goofy.

I don't usually write fanfic, but hm...

Team Ja-Sea!

Whoo hoo! ARC time! I'm so excited for Spells I can hardly stand it! I'd have to pick Rose from Vampire Academy and Jace from City of Bones! I'd love to see them together, they'd be hilarious and would get into all kinds of trouble!

kristiclark said...

Isabella Lightwood from the Mortal instruments and Jacob Black from Twilight. Isabella is a hot head, while Jacob is a calm guy [sometimes with massive mood swings] but Jacob could really Issy out I think. She's a bad ass, needless to say and needs someone who can keep up with her actions. Jacob is a werewolf and I totally think he could keep up and really calm her down. Issy likes difference, Jacob is defiantly different. But I've always thought they would be perfect for each other. Jacob likes inner beauty just as much as outer, and Issy has both. Jacob can make Issy laugh when she needs to laugh and help her when she needs help [the girl needs a shoulder to lean on and jacob would be that shoulder for her] Not only would they be totally in love, but they would be great friends. :) I think their perfect for each other.

I would have to say Bert from "The Truth about Forever" because he really needs someone to love him and appreciate his quirks, I always had a soft spot for him, and Lavender Brown from Harry Potter who needed to find someone after she got her heart broken by Ron. I'm all about Fire from Kristin Cashore's "Fire" and Jacob from the Twilight series. Even though I love Brigan in "Fire" he reminds me of Jacob a little bit. Jacob is perfect for Fire because she's so tired of being sheltered and protected for what she is. She's a tough cookie and needed to "come into her own" and Jacob is the perfect guy to facilitate that, not to mention loyal.

Have I mentioned that I'M OFFICIALLY DYING FOR NEED OF A SPELLS ARC?! *fake cough, back of hand to forehead, sniff, sniff* See?! (LOL!) THE ONLY CURE IS A SPELLS ARC - HURRY!

I would like to see Katnis from The Hunger Games with Osar from Candor. Even though they come from verry different worlds they are both similare in their values and try to breake out from the world they are trapped in to make it better for the ones they love. They try to get to a place were they can think freely and be them self and not be afraid of having an opinions of their own.

I think it would be intresting to see two people who have a similare personality but from two so verry different worlds meet and see what would happen.

I have to say that I always thought that Laurie picked the wrong sister in Little Women. And because Jo always reminded me of Anne from Anne of Green Gables, I would love to see Laurie get together with Anne.

what a totally fantabulous contest! i nearly jumped out of my seat when i saw it becuase i have exams starting May 4th (such bad luck right?) and so won't be able to read Spells until June. :( I think its fantastic that you're giving back to your readers like this!

Okay, i had to run through a lot of my ideal pairings to get to this one, but i HAVE to say, that i think Lena, from Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, and Shakespeare's Romeo are a match made in literary heaven.

Reason: well, Lena is kinda obsessed with being orderly, and making the right decision. she NEEDS romeo, who is himself so swept up in feelings of love, to come along and sweep her off her feet. He will make her forget all of her worries, and shower her with the affection she needs. Likewise, she may be able to ground him enough to prevent him from making such fool-hardy mistakes (cough-cough, Juliet).

good luck to all other wings fans as well!!

I think Savannah Levine from Kelley Armstrong's "Stolen" and Gabriel from LJ Smith's "Dark Visions" would be an excellent couple.

They're both tough, have a sarcastic sense of humor, and come from hard childhoods. They would be able to understand each other, and if Gabriel's condition got out of hand, I'm sure Savannah would have a good way to apply her witch/sorcerer powers to fixing it. Gabriel often tries to play mind games with the other characters from his story, and Savannah does the same with the ones from hers. Neither one of them would take the other's BS.

Not only is this a very cool idea, it has also added new books to my "To Read" list.

I would have to say Leslie from Melissa Marr's Ink Exchange and David from Wings.

They have both been involved with a fairy (Leslie not so willingly) and pulled into the fairy world, but they were never really apart of it. They would be able to talk about their fairy encounters with each other, since not many other would believe them. And lastly, since Leslie has gone through a lot and I think that David would be there to love, comfort and support her, but give her space when she needs it.

I would have to say Adrian Ivashkov from the Vampire Academy series with Aphrodite Lafont from The House of Night series.

Both are used to being in control. Aphrodite was the leader of the popular group and Adrian is related to the Queen. They are used to getting their way no matter what.

However they are kind and loyal to the ones they love, even if they try to act as if they don't care.

They would be a great pair to read about. It would be awesome to see them fall in love.

I think LUCY from Impossible by Nancy Werlin and PATCH from Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick would have been an amazing power couple. A romantic-hero (not the typical good/bad guy but a little of both) who is a fallen angel is drawn to Lucy, both by greed and curousity. Lucy has been cursed since the day she was worn, to follow in the footsteps of every woman in her family. Patch steps into an already complicated situation with an evil force. But Lucy can't decide who is the bad guy; Patch the new guy or the myseterious stranger who keeps appearing in her life? And strangely she is drawn to patch both by desire and fear to know the truth. (And she is by no means a weak character. Either is Patch) Patch in the end saves her, redeems himself and is no longer a fallen angel =] Waa-lah! This is my version.

Well I've thought long and hard about this. There are just too many to choose from and with everyone else suggestions... it's pretty difficult. However, I really am liking Dimitri from the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead and Fire from the Graceling/ Fire series by Kristen Cashore. They both have really strong personalities. I love how Fire has this sense of not wanting to be a monster even though it's who she is inside. Also, Dimitri strives to be more human until... the unfortunate happens. I think their combination would be great and they would bring the human characteristics out of each other. Also, they really believe in what they're trying to achieve. I just love the very strong personalities they both possess. It's very similar to my own marriage :)

Oh wow what a question, it got me sitting here thinking about all the books and series i have read and who would match well with whom.

I would have to say Savannah from Kelley Armstrong's otherworld series and Ben from Brigg's Mercy Thompson series. The two of them would get along and they both know about each others kind.

so... I know my chances of winning this awesome contest are about as big as my dogs brain, but hey, why not give it a try?

I spent all day thinking about this and I came up with Patch from Hush, Hush, along with Mary from The Forest Of Hands And Teeth.

Not only are they both similar in personalities-hardcore, yet strong, both not afraid to speak their minds-they both have what the other one needs.

Patch is a nutcase... in a good way, of coarse. He is reckless, slightly a smart-ass. He does most things for the fun of it and is an easy giver-upper. Where-as Mary on the other hand, she is a bit more mature... though that could be from the circumstances she has been in. She isn't afraid to take charge, and when she does, she is completely sereious. When she gets her mind set on something, she will undoubtedly follow through. Mary needs someone layed back and carefree like Patch. Patch needs a strong, self-confedent younge woman, like Mary, that doesn't need to be babied all the time. They are Perfect, don't you think!?

Not only all of that other stuff, I just think they would be just so darn cute together! God, i'm so corny... haha

I would really like to see Leah from Stephanie Meyers Twilight series with Simon from Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instrument series. I really felt for Leah while reading Twilight series. The man you are with that you love falls for your distant relative. Then to make it even worse later she inherits being part of the wolf pack to continue to endure pain by being able to hear Sam's lusting endearing thoughts for another. Simon on the other hand turned into a rat, and then a vampire. He was able to acquire he loves attention for a while, but knew in the back of his mind she was settling. He was imprisoned, and to close to being dissected. In the end he is alone. I think that Leah and her bitterness need someone like Simon who is kind and gentle, and who can also cool her witty-tongue attitude.

Katniss from The Hunger Games and Archer from Fire by Kristen Cashore. They both understand what it takes to survive. Hunting in the wilderness. They could also compete with each other, which is a necessity in a good relationship. They both have such big hearts that they could do whatever it took to save each other.

I think David from your book Wings would be great with Issi from the Goose Girl, she is beautiful, and one of my all time favorite characters. David will be happy with her. Then Laurel will live happily ever after with Tamani!!!! :D

Oh, this contest rocks! And I love the prize!!!!

Okay, this is a tough one, but I think Katsa from Graceling would be good with Jude from The Dark Divine. He's a good guy who has to fight his new "dark" side, and she is the perfect person to help him control it.

Ooh! I vote for Katniss (Hunger Games) with Jace (Mortal Instruments). I'm really only doing this to get Peeta to myself. He deserves someone better than Katniss. Why not me? Anyhoo, sometimes Jace needs to me taken down a notch (and I LOOOOVE that he does...love Jace) and I think Katniss would be the perfect one to do that. I can hear the witty banter. It would be so much fun:)

I'm gonna say Katsa from Graceling and Valek from Poison Study. I think they would be perfect for each other. They are both really tough and I would love to see them go at it. Also I think Valek is just what Katsa would need emotionally.

I wanted to say Vee from Hush, Hush with Mr. Wickham from Pride and Prejudice, but he's not fantasy.

I'm not even sure if this one counts as fantasy, but I'd like to see Rapunzel from Rapunzel's Revenge get together with Percy Jackson. He needs someone smart and sassy and she needs someone strong and brave who can guard her back.

For some reason I'm thinking Minerva McGonagall and Gerald O'hara would have fun together. I think Minera would find Gerald's love for horse riding some what endearing but she would be able to keep his Irish streak in line.

I am a late YA bloomer (45) and both my daugher and I loved WINGS and are so looking forward to get our hands on SPELLS!
The winter here in Sweden is the coldest one in 27 years and that is a bad thing if you are not into winter activities...so I prefer reading and dreaming and longing...
Anyway -I have always wondered what kind of a man PIPPI LONGSTOCKING would fall in love with as a grown up. After some contemplating I believe MOWGLI from the jungel book would be a perfect match.
They will never stop climbing trees and Mowgli will accept horses indoors. Yeah - Pippi and Mowgli will have a passionate life together. Besides, they both know what it is like to be outsiders!

so... I know my chances of winning this are about as big as my dog's brain, but hey, why not give it a try!?

I've been thinking about this all day long(literally, I got yelled at in English because I wasn't paying enough attention!), and I came up with Patch from Hush, Hush, and Mary from The Forest Of Hands And Teeth.

First off, they are similar in the way they work in serious situations. They both can take charge when the time comes-no questions asked. In The Forest of Hands And Teeth, Mary goes against all others because she knows what she feels is right and everyone else is completely wrong. Patch is also like that. When He feels he is doing what is best, he isn't afraid to say so.

Not only do they have a few comparative qualities, they also have what the other one is missing and needs. Patch is carefree... and a slight smartass. He can make even the most depressed of people smile. Mary, on the other hand, is entirely grave, though that could possibly be from the circumstances she is in. She needs the happy-go-lucky attitude that Patch has, and, in return, Patch needs Mary's staid temper.

Together they would make the perfect person, don't you think? God, I sound so corny! haha

I'm going to shut up now and let other peeps comment... Thank you for this amazing contest and I can't wait to see who wins!

p.s., I love WINGS!

Edward (Twilight) and Fire (Fire) would be a great pair. Both have painfully beautiful exteriors, but it is what lies beneath the surface that truly connects these two. Edward hates himself for his natural inclination to drink human blood, whereas Fire despises her Monster heritage and her ability to control people. Both are broken, but being together would help them to heal the wounds inflicted by their self-loathing and accept their truly kind and selfless natures.

The Monster animals that constantly plague Fire would be no match for Edward's speed, strength, and razor-sharp teeth. Plus, the attacking Monsters would provide Edward with an excellent source of nourishment--Fire is basically a magnet for his food source.

And even if Fire's own Monster blood is too potent for Edward, he's a self-proclaimed masochist, so it would only strengthen the match.

I would say Rose Hathaway from the vampire academy series and Lucas Ross from the evernight series, because their both sarcastic badasses and they both fend themselves from evil strigois and vampires. So they can fight together and love each af the same time.

i think katniss from hunger games would be great with tamani. she needs someone like him to help her with all the life threatening danger she faces. :)

Ok so I'm late. For some reason I could only come up with evil character pairings. Draco Malfoy and Estella from Great Expectations. Rath Roibon Rye (from Tithe) and Ari (from Wicked Lovely series). Also, my friend was really physched about his cross-book match of Holden Caulfield (Catcher in the Rye) and Blanche DuBois from Streetcar Named Desire.

I think that Derek from The Summoning by kelley armstrong and Lena Duchannes from Beautiful Creatures would be a great pair. They both seem unsure of what the future will hold for them.

I read all of the replies and I had to decide on Tamani and me. No just kidding(I think;)... But really, I had to think hard on this, Okay here goes...
Chelsea from yours... and
Mike Newton from Twilight because they both like someone who (other than friends) pays them no mind and they fail every time they try to win their love over. (Epic fail)
At least Chelsea moves on after a while, Mike certainly doesn't... As my friend Hannah says, "He never had a chance with Edward around"

On another note, my second choice would be Frodo Baggins from LOTR and A character from one of my own books... Eliza Waterson, She's smart, sarcastic, and adventurous, espescially when she finds out that her best friend is a highly trained teen assasin... If you want to read more its posted on inkpop.com under C.J. Fogt, Reliance...
So those are my choices... Hope you enjoy... :)

I think Simon from the Awakening Trilogy and Isabella from the Mortal Imstruments trilogy.

Simon so nice and sweet and Isabella needs a little love. She's a sarcastic but beautiful girl and they will balance each other out. She can snap and he won't judge.

Adorable (:

I think that Katsa from Graceling and Hale from (the new) Heist Society would go wonderfully together. Hale's cleverness would match up perfectly with Katsa's fighting, and their mission (that they both do) will always get accomplished. Hale likes strong, independent girls. Katsa likes guys that will love her no matter what the consequences were.
They are perfect for each other!!!
